Topic: Characteristics of biochemical and genetic indicators of liver disorders, revealed in functional changes in the thyroid gland (Scientific-research laboratory of Biochemistry department, supervisor – prof. A.M. Afandiyev).
Purpose: To study the characteristics of biochemical and genetic indicators of liver disorders revealed in functional changes in the thyroid gland.
Result: Significant changes in the level of ALT and AST were observed in the blood of patients with hypo- and hyperthyroidism. The number of ALTs increased 2 times during both diseases, and the level of AST increased by 1.2 in patients with hypothyroidism 1.6 times in patients with hyperthyroidism, indicating functional impairment of the liver.
While in 65% of patients with hypothyroidism in the thyroid gland the activity of creatine kinase increased, this percentage was observed in 2.5% of patients with hyper functions. The level of alkaline phosphatase was significantly lower in both diseases.
Changes in other biochemical parameters (cholesterol, urea, creatinine, albumin, total protein, sodium, phosphorus, calcium, iron) were not detected.
Studies have shown that hypo functional thyroid disorders are more often inherited and associated with hereditary hypothyroidism during functional changes in the thyroid gland. |
