9 September - World First Aid Day

Every year since 2000, on the second Saturday of September, World Health Day is celebrated in many countries. The initiators of the meeting are the national organizations - members of the International Movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. The purpose of providing first aid is to provide the victim with the necessary basic medical measures to save his life, reduce his suffering and prevent the development of possible complications. Professionally, this kind of help is provided, of course, by physicians, but in addition to them, police and rescue workers are required to take first aid.According to the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 10% of all deaths and up to 15% of all disabilities occur every year in the world due to injuries resulting from accidents, burns, falls or drowning. Injuries are the main cause of death of people aged 15 to 45 years.

The first aid service in the world was created at the end of the 19th century. In Azerbaijan, the first medical emergency medical service was established in 1922.

After the restoration of the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan, much attention was paid to the development of emergency aid in the country.İn particular, vehicles with modern medical equipment were modernized. At the same time, the number of medicines was improving every year, the range was expanding, the medical staff was equipped with modern uniforms, and the professionalism of doctors and midwives increased.
